The complete guide
How a Series & Playoff Squares works.
Series & Playoff Squares takes the classic squares game and stretches it across a whole series, playoff run, or season: buy your square once and it’s in for every game — keep the same numbers all season, or re-draw fresh numbers each game. Here’s how it works and when to use it.
What are series squares?
It’s the same 10×10 grid you know — but instead of one game, the grid plays across a schedule of games. Supporters buy a square once and it stays theirs for every game in the series. Before each game, fresh row and column numbers are drawn, so a square that lost last game has a brand-new shot the next. Winners pay out per game.
Series squares vs. classic squares
Same grid, different lifespan:
| Classic Squares | Series & Playoff Squares | |
|---|---|---|
| Buy a square | For one game | Once — good for every game |
| Numbers | Drawn once | Fresh draw each game |
| Winners | Per period in one game | Per game across the series |
| Best for | A single big game | A playoff run, series or full season |
Because one purchase covers many games, series squares keep supporters engaged for weeks — and raise more per square sold.
How numbers and winners work each game
Ownership of a square never changes once it’s sold, but the numbers do: before each game the 0–9 digits are re-drawn at random, so every square is back in play. Enter each game’s score and the winning squares light up automatically, just like classic squares — repeated for every game on the schedule.
Run a season-long squares pool
Sell once, play every game, and let numbers and winners run themselves.
When to use it
- A team’s entire season — one square rides along every week.
- A playoff bracket or championship series.
- A tournament where you want one pool across many games.
- Any time you’d rather sell once than re-run a new grid for each game.
Payouts and selling more
Set how each game pays out (percentage or fixed) and your program’s cut, just like classic squares. Demand high? Release additional grids beyond the first 100 so you can keep selling. Every seller can have their own link and leaderboard.
Running it the easy way
ChooseASquare handles the per-game number draws, scoring and payouts automatically across the whole schedule. If you only need a single game, Classic Squares is simpler; for weekly winner-picking instead of a grid, see Pick’Em. Add the Fundraising module to turn the series into a fundraiser.
FAQ
Series & Playoff Squares, answered.
What are Series & Playoff Squares?+
A multi-game version of squares. Supporters buy a square once and keep it for every game in a series — an NFL playoff run, March Madness, a team’s whole season, or a finals series — instead of buying a new grid each game.
Do the numbers change each game?+
You choose. Draw fresh numbers before every game (so a bad number one week doesn’t sink the whole series), or apply one set of numbers across all games.
How do payouts work across the series?+
Each game can pay out by period (quarters, halftime, final) and pattern (exact or reverse), funded from one shared pot. Scores you enter compute winners automatically and propagate across grids.
Which plan is it on?+
Series & Playoff Squares is part of the Pro Commissioner plan, which also unlocks all premium tools. There’s no platform fee for players — they only pay the entry price you set.
Can I add or change games after launch?+
Yes — reorder, edit, or remove games anytime, and draw or redraw numbers per game from the schedule manager.
What happens if a series sells out?+
You can release another full series of squares — manually or automatically at a percentage sold — to keep selling.
Can I run a season-long pool where every game pays out?+
Yes — pick “Weekly pot” mode when you create the pool. Supporters buy one square for the whole season (priced per week, paid upfront), you auto-load the NFL schedule, and each week has fresh numbers with the week’s pot split evenly across every game that week. You can start mid-season and choose whether to include the playoffs.
Every setting for both Series Squares modes: fixed-pot Series/Playoff Squares (buy once, per-game payouts) and weekly-pot Season Squares (fresh numbers every week, auto NFL load) — plus entry pricing, the organizer cut, and releasing more…
